A lot of good things can happen in 60 years!

All during 2024, the Shorewood Foundation is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, rededicating its efforts to make our community a special place to live, work and play. In its first 60 years, the Foundation has invested more than $1 million in a wide variety of initiatives from the Farmers Market to the July 4th fireworks. The Foundation supports programs for seniors and kids and for those in between, support that helps celebrate, connect, and sustain our community. See a more complete list here.

As we commemorate our anniversary, this page will feature historical messages, videos, and special event announcements. The first of these was last fall’s “An Evening with David Zucker,” which featured a free screening of the Shorewood native’s hit comedy “Airplane!” at the High School’s Auditorium and Zucker reminiscing on stage about his memories of growing up here. He autographed his new book about the making of the movie afterward.

Bookmark this page for upcoming events or follow the Foundation on Facebook and Instagram. Every Thursday we will feature a new look back at our past. If you like what you see, you can make a donation to the Foundation’s work here.

  • Hear former board member Jennifer Anderson tell how “Shark Tank” came about and how it’s basic objective has been realized. One of the first winners, she says, was the Shorewood Historical Society, which wanted a public space for Shorewood homeowners to come forward to learn the history of their neigborhood and, in some cases, even more about their own home. Watch for the video here on February 8.
